Do you agree to the following Slack community rules:

  • Refrain from engaging in negative or controversial discussions, including those of a political nature
  • Refrain from expressing current, personal mental health struggles in a public forum, as it may be distressing to others – if you are currently struggling, please seek support from the National Suicide Prevention Hotline by calling 9-8-8 or the Crisis Text Line at this link: https://988lifeline.org/chat/. You are not alone.
  • Refrain from disparaging or slandering another person or entity. Our Slack is for constructive, productive, and hope-based conversations.
  • No soliciting. If you have an opportunity you’d like to share, you must get it approved by a staff member who can then share it on your behalf.

Members (“users”) of the Active Minds Slack Community (“Community”) are required to agree to and act in accordance with the stipulations of this user agreement (“agreement”), which is designed to ensure the safety of all users as well as the interests of Active Minds, Inc. (“Active Minds”). Please read this agreement carefully and consider whether you will be able to act in accordance with all of its stipulations.

The purpose of the Community is to give Active Minds Chapter Members the opportunity to professionally network with other members of the Community, trade questions and ideas regarding chapter leadership, mental health awareness, and mental health advocacy topics, and communicate about Active Minds programs and events. The Community does not provide or support peer counseling or support group-related content, nor should the Community ever be treated as a mental health crisis resource or service. The Community does not provide any kind of clinical or crisis intervention services and is not monitored by licensed clinical mental health professionals.

Members are invited into the Community via invitation from a member of the Active Minds National Staff. This invitation may be revoked at any time based on adherence to the agreement and community guidelines.

The Community channels are not monitored 24 hours, seven days per week and therefore Active Minds is not responsible for the posting of inappropriate or concerning content by users within the Community. Active Minds requests that users report any inappropriate or concerning content to Active Minds as soon as possible in accordance with the community guidelines and information located in the Slack channel descriptions.

The Community is not a counseling service nor a crisis hotline and should not be used as such by any user. The network is not constantly monitored for such postings, is never monitored by a licensed clinical mental health professional, and there should be no expectation on the part of any user that they can receive clinical or crisis intervention via the Community. Posted content describing the circumstances of an active crisis, self-harm, or any other topic that is considered “clinical” by Active Minds is subject to removal, as is the user who posted it. If you or someone you know is in need of crisis, short-term, or long-term clinical mental health services, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (800-273-8255), Crisis Text Line (text “BRAVE” to 741-741) or your local counseling service.

All users should avoid using commonly triggering language that could risk the safety and well-being of other users. Discussion of triggers might include, but is not limited to: discussion of suicidal means, suicidal ideation, means or other details of self-harm, details related to eating disorders (e.g., specific weights, sizes, calorie intakes, purging, etc.), or detailed discussion of violent and/or traumatic events.

Active Minds is not responsible for any harmful, violent, or offensive actions taken by users within the Community. If concerning content is brought to the attention of Community moderators, Active Minds may share crisis resources or dispatch emergency services when necessary and possible; however, such a response should not be expected and is not guaranteed.
